Creating articles in different languages
In this video, I’m going to show you how you can set up your knowledge base in multiple languages.
From the ‘Knowledge Base’ icon in the upper menu, you can see that we’ve created one article: “What is a rocket?” Go back to the original menu, which is where you can configure and set up your knowledge base. Just click on the ‘Configure’ button in the top right-hand corner.
So, step one is to actually set up the knowledge base for multiple languages. So in your menu item here, ‘Localization,’ click on ‘Languages’ and add the languages you’d like to create your knowledge base in. So let’s set it for Italian. So we can create Meta Descriptions, Headings, and Sub-Headings here, depending on the language, and we can change it per language. You can also select whether you want visitors to be able to create a ticket depending on the language. Once you’ve done that, click escape (the ‘x’ in the upper-right corner). Then click the ‘Knowledge Base’ menu item on the left-hand side.
The second step is to set up our categories in Italian or other languages. So click on ‘Categories’ towards the top-left. And let’s say we’re going to duplicate this article in Italian. Let’s click on the plus (+) sign to create the category in Italian. Now, I know that rockets in Italian is “Razzi.” Let’s make a description, “Cos’è un razzo?” in Italian. We can add an icon if we like. Once we’ve finished, click ‘Create Category.’ Then, go back. So now we’ve created our Rocket category both in English and Italian.
The third step is to create the article. So let’s say we want to create our “What is a rocket?” article in Italian. So under languages, just click the plus (+) button and select Italian. Now we can translate our article. “What is a rocket?” translates to … We can also take this section of the article here. Then we can add our paragraph of text. And you can just keep going and build out your article. Once you’ve done that, the category that should be selected is Rockets in Italian: “Razzi.” The language is Italian. We’ll select an author as Adrian. And now we’ll publish our article.
Now, in our Help Center, we can see at the top here we can either select English or Italian. You’ve got the option to submit the ticket here, we’ve got our category Rockets or Razzi, and then we’ve got our article in here. As easy as that!
